HAPPY SANCTUARY

Stitched on Canvas

A2 Canvas

The title of my artwork is "My Happy Sanctuary." The artwork was painted on an A2 canvas and everything is sewn onto the canvas. The main subject is my dog, as she is my first pet in my life. Therefore, I have chosen a very personal approach. For the artwork I used a total of 7 colours - (red, blue, green, yellow, orange, black and white). The idea of these 7 colours is the thought of a rainbow, but instead of using the colours of a rainbow, I combined them with the colours that are supposed to represent my emotions. The three colours at the corners of the canvas represent the negative emotions trying to reach my main emotion, but not succeeding because of the unimaginable hope it gives me despite all the obstacles. The other two colours, on the other hand, represent the positive emotions that lead to me being able to reach my main emotion. This also explains why I decided to use the different thread colours for the background, because this is how our emotions work in everyday life for everyone. It changes throughout the day at different times. All in all, the moral of the story of my work is that it gives me peace no matter what struggles or obstacles I go through, good or bad.

VITALITY

Acrylic on Canvas

A2 Canvas

The title of my artwork is "vitality." My artwork is about growth and adaptation. The artwork is about the growth of a baby that is still in the womb. The four bubbles on the side represent the four seasons (summer, spring, fall and winter) which represent the different trimesters of a pregnancy. The background was designed with the theme of the galaxy, since the baby is still in the womb and has not yet entered the world of the living. The black represents the darkness while it is still in the womb and the colours represent the life and happiness it will bring when it is born. In summary, the baby grows and prospers, bringing to this world another laughter and happiness that cannot be explained.

CAVE OF EMOTIONS

Wood on wood, Metal Wire

32cm * 29.5cm * 30cm

The box was painted in red to represent strength, as the box plays the role of a "pillar of strength". The spirals represent the different types of emotions I feel, and the length of the wires varies depending on how I feel, because sometimes emotions stay with us longer than we expect. The spirals that are below represent our emotions, which we sometimes repress and ignore because of circumstances, but we are hardly aware that they are building up inside us and we can be or even become overwhelmed by them. The whole idea is like how water drips and dries up, so it is with our emotions, they do not just stay there all the time.
